Next Mystery sock KAL

Well, it's been 6+ months since the last mystery sock from Knitter's Brewing Co. I haven't done a ton of knitting since then, but I have done a little bit. Here is the latest picture of the KAL sock through clue #2. I will try and post a newer picture as I am now working my way through Clue #5.

Wish me luck!

Knitter's Brewing Co. Mystery sock KAL

Finished! After a little over a month of working on them, I finished the mystery socks. Working on 2 circs, I worked them both at the same time. It's very satisfying to pull them off the needles at the same time. And though it might take slightly longer to complete them, they still knit up much faster than if I worked them one at a time.

I used the Zimmerman sewn bind off for the first time as well, and it is definitely my favorite cast off for toe up socks. I knitted up Cat Bordhi's Leaf and Tendril socks right before starting these socks, and the cast off for those is interesting but I don't like the look of it as much. The sewn bind off looks much cleaner.

Sock Wars III

And so the battle rages.... It started on May 9th, and this is my first weapon, resulting in a "kill" on Wed., May 14th. These were made with Tofutsies official Sock Wars color.

My 7 year old son thinks my war name, Anakin Socknitter is the funniest thing he's ever heard. He's been very supportive during the battle, which is more than I can say for my 22 mo old (she insists on having attention and wants me to play with her instead of knit socks.... imagine that!) On Mother's Day, my son's wrapping paper for my gift was Sock Wars III themed. Notice the balls of yarn with knitting needles through them (like a skull and cross bones, he says). There is also warriors fighting with sock weapons and a picture of me knitting my weapon... Too cute!

My target graciously sent her sock in progress to me via express mail, received on Thursday May 15th at noon. After a weekend of knitting, the pair is ready to mail to her target; they will go in the mail this afternoon. It looks like I will get at least 2 "kills" in before meeting my own demise, which could be at any time.
May the fleece be with you!!!

December Already

I can't believe it's already December. It seems like the school year just started and now it's already the end of the year. Ryan has grown to my shoulder height, and he's only 7. Sarah is 4 going on 14, at least. Any my baby.... already 17 months old. I will miss those baby baby months; she's already got a mind of her own and is not all that interested in pleasing mom....uh oh!

I've got about 11 projects to complete before Christmas. A sweater for Sarah and matching doll (1 for Sarah and 1 for Kelly). Socks for Jason's girls (3 pairs), socks for the nieces (3 pairs), 2 scarves for Ryan and Sarah's teachers. ACK! It's a good thing I decided to put off DH's special blanket till March. I'll post pics of my creations when they're done. At least Sarah's sweater and one of the scarves are about 75% done. Better start knitting... clearly I'm in for some late nights.
